Anti Wrinkle Cream Studies

With many anti wrinkle creams out there, some inexpensive and effective, some effective wrinkle creams that are expensive, and so many in between, how do you know which is the best one? We'll start off with the basic ingrediants that studies have shown to improve anti-aging results.

"People would love to believe that cheap products are the same as the more expensive ones, and I may pooh-pooh someone paying $500 for a cream, but I do see the value of some of the luxury brands which are science-based. But it is a cautionary tale that people should be looking at the ingredients rather than just at the packaging." - Dr. Tina Alster, Georgetown University Medical Center.
  • Tea extracts: contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Coenzyme Q10: nutrient that helps regulate energy production in cells, with reduction in fine wrinkles around the eyes and protects against sun damage.
  • Retinol: vitamin A compound, used in nonprescriptive wrinkle creams. Less potent then tretinoin, a vitamin A derivative, but tretinoin is used only in prescriptions.
  • Kinetin: plant growth factor, helps reduce wrinkles and uneven pigmentation by helping skin retain moisture, and stimulating the production of collagen.
  • Copper peptides: enhance wound healing, enhance the action of antioxidants.
  • Hydroxy acids: acids derived from sugar-containing fruits that exfoliate (remove dead skin), which help you stimulate growth of smooth, evenly pigmented new skin.
